'Tis Herself

Well, hello there!  I'm Kat, your lovely authoress.  I'm currently thirty-two years old, and divorced. I'm a Myers-Briggs ENFP.  Princess Pumpernickel and I live in the fabulous Kansas City, MO. (Quick note, Kansas City is actually in Missouri.  There's a Kansas City, Kansas too, but it's more like our illegitimate half-brother.)

I hate talking about myself, so I thought I'd cheat and use a questionnaire instead!  Enjoy!

Do you have any pets? Big T, my roommate, has a beagle mix named Cookie.  She sheds like a mother, and thinks my bed is the best place to sleep in the entire house.  This is a bad combo.

What was the last book you read? I'm going to skip this question.  I read soooo much, it would be impossible to keep up with, really.

Do you like to cook? LOVE to...especially for other people.  I suck at baking, and can't grill for snot, but I'm an EXCELLENT cook.

What kind of food do you like? Please, I'm a fluffy broad.  It's easier to tell you what I DON'T like.  I dislike most fish, and sweet potatoes, and asparagus.  That's about it.  I'm big on ethnic food.  Greek, Middle Eastern, Indian, Asian.  I'm also Irish, so meat and taters are awesome.

Do you have brothers and sisters?  My brother Jimbo is five years younger, and my sister Meimei is fifteen years younger.  That's right, I said fifteen.  I also have a step-sister from my mom's second marriage, and a step-brother from her third and current one.

Which sports do you like? I love to play base/softball.  I used to coach little league soccer.  Love watching hockey, college basketball, and hockey.

Do you live alone? We share a house with Big T, who I refer to as my platonic life partner.  I'll note that Big T is not obese, just tall.  Seven foot tall, to be exact.

Have you ever lived in another country? Nope.  Haven't even really been in another country.  I had plans to move to Ireland after my 22nd birthday, but I got married instead. :)

Have you ever met a famous person? I saw Tom DeLonge on Santa Monica beach in California a few years ago.  Managed to snap two discreet pictures, even.

How do you spend your free time? Reading, writing, crafting, catching up on the good movies/tv shows everyone else already knew about, and sleeping.

Tell me about a favorite event of your adulthood. In short, being on a beach.  A few years ago, Princess P. and I vacationed in California, doing the Disneyland thing, but the best time was the day we spent on Santa Monica beach.  Sitting in the sand, ocean breeze, watching my kid play in the waves...amazing.  Last year I spent a week in and around Chicago.  Turns out a Great Lake is as good as the ocean.

Tell me about a favorite event of your childhood.  Does fifteen count as childhood?  If so, it'd be when my Meimei was born.

What are your hobbies? Reading, trying new recipes, crafty stuff, flea market/garage sale/thrift store shopping, teaching Princess P. what GOOD music is.

What do you do on Sundays? Recover from the previous week and weekend.  Laundry.  Showers.  That's about it.

What do you do? What's your job? Besides the single/only parent gig? I'ma freelance Jill-of-all-trades.

What is your motto in life? "It's better to be infamous than famous."

What kind of people do you like? Smart, funny, open-minded, consistent ones.

Which languages do you speak? English, some Spanish, bits of Mandarin Chinese, and typo.

What are you great at? Random bits of useless information, song lyrics, cooking, Princess snuggles

Who do you respect the most? Madeline Albright, Rachel Maddow, George Carlin, Bill Maher, Stephen Colbert, JK Rowling

Who has had the most influence in your life? Princess Pumpernickel, and Meimei

Would you like to be famous? Rather be infamous. ;)

What do you hope you will be doing five years from now? Hopefully, I'll be the next Arianna Huffington.

Are you a 'morning' or 'night' person? Night.  I usually stay up until at least two AM.

How many times did you move as a child? Four, I believe.

What kind of woman/man would you like to spend the rest of your life with? Smart, funny, tall, cute, loyal, liberal, consistent.

What cartoon character best describes you? I'm a cross between Cathy, the mom in Baby Blues, and Paige from Foxtrot.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Ireland.

If you knew could you try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?  World domination.

What super-power would you most like to have, and why?  Knowing the future.  It'd be worth it alone for the lottery numbers.

Would you live with someone without marrying them?  For at least a year before I'd get hitched. The older I get though, the less I'm concerned with getting remarried.

Would you rather take pictures or be in pictures?  Take them.  That's one of the reasons it's so hard to find pictures of me.

Are you a beach, country or city person?  City.  I grew up in the country, but feel more at home in the city.  Heck, even the suburbs drove me crazy.

Where do you spend most of your money?  Thift/flea/garage, and craft stores, and Princess P. :)
